At the end of the 1940s, in the heart of Cesena, Attilio Babbi began creating his first ingredients for artisan gelato. In 1952, he founded the Babbi Confectionery Company, dedicated to producing cones, wafers, and mixes for master gelato makers.

Our History
A journey spanning over seventy years
It was 1952 when, in the heart of Cesena, Attilio Babbi founded his company. He began producing cones and wafers for gelato – the result of carefully handed-down artisanal know-how and a dedication that would soon become the brand’s hallmark. At his side, his son Giulio helped the business grow, bringing Babbi products beyond the borders of Romagna.
In the years that followed, the intuition to make use of the winter months to start a new production line led to the creation of the confectionery division. Here, the iconic Viennesi and Waferini were born – small masterpieces of crispness and harmony, now known worldwide and a symbol of excellence with deep roots.
The story continued with the third generation – Carlo, Gianni and Piero – who consolidated and expanded the range, introducing new ingredients for artisan gelato and bringing Babbi Confectionery Specialties to an increasingly international audience. Today, the fourth generation – Andrea, Carlotta, Chiara, Filippo and Paolo – passionately safeguards the family heritage, continuing to intertwine craftsmanship, innovation and sustainability with a forward-looking vision.
Opening up to foreign markets led to the establishment of the Barcelona branch in 2006, followed by Germany in 2019 and, in 2025, Babbi Middle East in Dubai. Today Babbi is present in over 70 countries, carrying everywhere the same passion that inspired Grandfather Attilio: turning simple ingredients into genuine moments of pleasure to be shared with those you love.
